Five-color identity.
Green-red game plan.
Terra is not asking us to cast every color on turn three. She is a green-red commander that earns a five-color late game. This rebuild ramps from owned basics, turns Esper Terra’s copies into immediate Saga chapter bursts, and uses white, blue, and black as payoffs—not as an early-game mana tax.
What Terra actually rewards
Legal commander check
WUBRG color identity
Terra starts red-green, but Esper Terra’s chapter IV creates white, blue, black, red, and green mana. The color identity is therefore five-color; the deck is allowed to use every listed card even though its early turns favor green and red.
Oracle source: the official FINAL FANTASY release notes confirm the copy-and-lore-counter interaction. The current Commander banned list is the official Wizards list.

The structural rethink
The old list was legal, but it treated WUBRG as a command to build an early five-color mana base. That is the expensive, slow path.
| Old assumption | Rebuild choice | Price effect | Why it is better for Terra |
|---|---|---|---|
| 28 paid nonbasics and only 10 basics | 17 paid nonbasics and 20 owned basics | Lower | Green-red works early; the splash colors are available before the Saga payoffs actually matter. |
| Generic enchantress value plus slow Sagas | 25 copy-worthy Sagas plus focused enchantment payoffs | $43.16 total | The commander’s back face becomes the center of the deck, rather than a bonus to unrelated cards. |
| Aura ramp as possible copy targets | Non-Aura ramp and permanent Saga targets | Lower risk | A copied Aura has no useful object to attach to; a copied Saga immediately fires its chapters. |
| One broad graveyard reset plan | Satsuki, Ghen, recursion Sagas, plus three mass-return spells | $0.29–$1.80 core pieces | Terra’s self-mill becomes a resource instead of a liability. |
| Narci with no current Zero listing | Archon of Sun’s Grace | $0.32 | Archon is itself a nonlegendary enchantment target and turns each copied enchantment into flying board presence. |
The practical result: this is not just $5.66 cheaper than the prior $48.82 list. It has fewer forced tapped lands, no dead Aura-copy line, and a much higher percentage of cards that matter when Esper Terra starts making temporary copies.
Deck-construction note: there are 62 nonland spells, 17 nonbasic lands to buy, 20 owned basic lands, and Terra. The list has no duplicate nonbasic cards and every spell is Commander-legal within Terra’s five-color identity. There is no premium fast mana, free interaction, deterministic combo, or fetch/shock land package.
